Confessions of a Cosmetologist

I have a problem. I know I do. I can openly admit it.

Normally I’d apologize for it but I will not. I chose to be a cosmetologist and therefore I am forever justified when it comes to buying hair, makeup, skincare, and nail products.

I mean I wouldn’t want to have you go out and buy a product without knowing if it was worth the buy or not. Its a service to you in all actuality.

I went to the Chicago hair show this weekend. I am forever obsessed and I can’t wait to go back again next year.

I also attended the Stylist Choice Awards where I got a whole bag of FULL SIZE free products, yeah, you read me right, FULL SIZE:

This bag consisted of:

  1. Wella Dry Me EmMi- dry shampoo

  14. MoroccanOil Texture Clay – texturizing
  15. Living Proof style | lab flex shaping spray – hairspray
  16. MarulaOil Rare Oil 3 -in-1 Styling Cream – styling cream

*the other two products I didn’t mention are not available to anyone but cosmetologists. Also, inside the box was just cup holders… I know, odd.

The following day I went to the hair show, and it was the best time ever.

I proceeded to get the following products:

  1. Light Elegance UV/LED light – for gel/acrylic nails
  2. MoroccanOil Restorative Hair Mask – hair mask
  3. MoroccanOil Texture Clay – texturizing

I just wanted to show you guys all the good stuff I received this weekend! If you have any questions about the products feel free to ask below!

I love you!

This has been my screen for the past 45 minutes to an hour.

Clearly to say, I got nothin’.

As I’m writing this I don’t even have a title. I’ll let ya know in the blog when I come up with the title.

I even looked up topics to blog about. I got a variety of ideas from “talk about your favorite recipes” to “sing a song”

How would I sing a song on my blog?

Good question. The answer is: you don’t. That’s weird and you all probably would unsubscribe within .02 seconds of hearing my vocal inability.

*two hours have past since I started this blog post*

I would apologize for getting way too distracted trying to see if there was a way to have donuts shipped to your door. But I’m not sorry.

I didn’t find any that were worth investing in. A girl can dream though….

Seriously though, if any of you guys want all of my money, make delivery donuts a thing.I’ll make you a millionaire in no time. You’re welcome.

But if any of you even remotely enjoy my blogs, and value my health, for the sake of me DO NOT make delivery donuts a thing. I’d explode.

I also have been trying to make hard boiled eggs for quite some time now. Those things are difficult. I am no chef. God bless chefs though, those people have talent.

I know that the egg boiling just takes time but if you’re going to wait for the egg to cook you have to have patients… I have none. zero. nada.

I’m going to list my favorite fall things of 2015! I don’t know how many I’m going to list so we will see.

  1. Bath and Body Works Black Tie Candle. Get it here. Bath and Body Works didn’t have it for sale on their website at the moment.

Screen Shot 2015-10-19 at 3.51.26 PM

2. Scandal – My nana probably will comment and say “that show is so tacky!” “Tacky” is her favorite adjective. I love this show. Every Thursday night I watch Grey’s (which I’m not really enjoying this season) and Scandal!

Screen Shot 2015-10-19 at 3.56.06 PM

3. Valerie Stevens Self-Tie Black Trench Coat. I defiantly think its more gray than black. Get it here.

Screen Shot 2015-10-19 at 4.01.51 PM

4. Vegetarian Chili. My favorite recipe you can get here.

Screen Shot 2015-10-19 at 4.12.19 PM

5. These fuzzy socks. I got mine from the children place. You can get them here.

But if you don’t have baby feet you can get fuzzy socks anywhere.

Screen Shot 2015-10-19 at 4.21.20 PM

6. Butterbear bath bomb. Get it here.

Screen Shot 2015-10-19 at 4.29.33 PM

7. Forever Red Luxury Body Cream. Get it here.

Screen Shot 2015-10-19 at 4.31.55 PM

8. The delivery man. Not all heroes wear capes.

Screen Shot 2015-10-19 at 4.53.54 PM

9. my personalized mug. Make yours here.

Screen Shot 2015-10-19 at 4.55.25 PM

10. And finally. My favorite thing of all…

my bed. I never want to leave it.

I’m sure you don’t even need to guess, you all have probably been celebrating all day, and looking forward to today all week.

The holiday season has officially started!

So in honor of the best holiday ever I decided I’d share a few of my favorite vegetarian things or things that I love! Even if you’re not an herbivore like me, these items are awesome and I recommend that you try them many of them aren’t even edible, they’re just associated with the veghead world!

I’ll go in an order from 15 – 1 and 1 will be my favorite!

15. prod_img-1333896 The roasted Garlic & Quinoa is my favorite.

Question, how do you pronounce “quinoa” I pronounce it as “keen-wah” but I’ve heard some people say “ka-no-ah” maybe its a state to state thing.

Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 5.54.25 PM

14. 80242_b_loveisintheair 80242_p_loveisintheair_web This is actually a vegan nail polish brand, which I just think awesome! This particular color is called “Love is in the air” I love this color, I also really love “Sage” which is a brown color. They are reasonably priced I think as well. SpaRituals

13. An awesome thing about being vegetarian is we get free guacamole at Chipotle! Sorry carnivores, you lose on that one, having to pay extra and what not. (Or you could just get a non-meat burrito or something and I bet they wouldn’t charge you.

chipotle_ad … unless you live in Colorado.

12. The Gourmet Veggie Club at Jimmy Johns. I get it on french bread though, whole wheat with the avocado spread is just too mushy for me.

Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 6.41.49 PM

11. The Documentary: Food Inc. on Netflix.

10. Cafepress has a lot of cute bumper stickers if thats your kinda thing. I like this one. How cute is he?!

Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 6.54.41 PM

9. Faux Leather Jackets – I love faux leather jackets, ya know, the jacket that makes you feel like you need to wear red lipstick, heels, and drive off in either a Ferrari or Harley Davidson Motorcycle. This one is from forever 21 and is $21 … I see what they did there.

Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 7.00.42 PM

8. The Fettuccine Alfredo with broccoli at Olive Garden, and their breadsticks, Oh, and their salad. I usually get the buy one take one from olive garden. So good.

Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 7.17.51 PM

7. Not having to wait for the annoying meat to be cooked through enough. ’nuff said.

6. Kat Von D is officially cruelty free (many companies are now) and has awesome vegan makeup options! How cool is that?!?!?!

5. One of my favorite things is that I don’t miss having a microwave! I haven’t had to use a microwave in probably 6 months. I probably wouldn’t even know how to use it now.

Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 7.41.04 PM

4. Aveda! Go read my last post or maybe the post before that if you want to learn more about Aveda. Some of the products do contain honey or beeswax so I can’t say that Aveda is 100% vegan.

3. I sleep better. I’m positive that since I’ve become vegetarian I have slept better. I haven’t had a bad nights sleep in well over a year.

Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 7.46.31 PM

2. Vegan Starbucks Drinks! I love the Peppermint Mocha Soy Latte!

Screen Shot 2015-10-01 at 7.49.00 PM

  1. And Last but First in my heart I love that I never feel bad about what I eat. My lettuce never had a heartbeat, and I just feel better knowing that I don’t have to take the life of living creature in order to live.

I hope you guys had  lovely October 1! And enjoyed the day regardless of if you celebrated one of the best days of the year.

Also Its Breast Cancer Awareness Month so ladies and gentlemen (yes men can get it too) make sure to check yourself, it doesn’t take long and it is very important. It literally could be a life or death situation.

I also wanted to take a moment and express my sadness for the shooting that happened in Oregon today. I don’t know when kids are going to stop thinking its okay to shoot up a school just because they’re mad.

Obama said today “our thoughts and prayers are no longer enough” as much as I am going to pray, and as much as my heart broke when I found out about Oregon, it isn’t enough. I just hope America can come up with a solution for safety soon. We shouldn’t have to live in fear of our fellow Americans.

My favorite makeup brand.

I love Kat Von D. I think she is beautiful, and her confidence inspires me.

Whether you think she has too many tattoo’s or not, she is fantastic.

Her makeup line is the best thing that has ever happen to me.

The first thing I ever tried was the lock-it tattoo concealer and I was hooked.

Then I tried the lock-it tattoo foundation. Again, and again, and again.

Ms. Von D’s makeup line is the bomb. Her foundation is full coverage and a little goes a long way.

Her foundation is my favorite foundation by a long shot. It is fairly thick, which is the consistency I like in a foundation.

I love L’Oreal’s true math but its a little too runny for me. I don’t want to feel like I’m lathering juice all over my face.

That’s just a personal preference though. L’Oreal is still one of my favorite brands.

Anyways Kat’s makeup line is everything.

I recently purchased her contouring kit. I have yet to try it but reading all the review’s I know I am already in love.

Also check out her lipsticks. I only have one but its my favorite lipstick. It’s the only lipstick that truly stays on my lips for a decent about of time.

Alright loves, hope you all have a good night, make good choices. Talk to you soon.

I Found THE ONE!

I found the one, guys! After years of searching and browsing, I’ve managed to find my soulmate.

His name is Mr. Grey.

…..Its a grey shirt.

I’m in love with it.

It was cheap too! I got it from Target too! target-dog-lrg

Here it is!

Screen Shot 2015-03-11 at 5.37.53 PM

Have you ever seen a more beautiful shirt?

I’m kidding. It’s nothing special, but it is my new favorite shirt. I wear it at least twice a weak. There is just so much you can do with a grey shirt.

You can dress it up, or down. You can be sophisticated, or a laid-back Lucy in this shirt.

This shirt is über cute. I love that word, über. Über. Über. Über. Über. So fun!

I am a grey type of gal. I like white, grey, and black. Those are my favorite colors.

Buy a grey shirt. It’s way better that Christian Grey could ever be. You can do more with it.

My favorite makeup artist in the world is Jaclyn Hill. I’m sure you all know of her by now, she’s basically the Bible of cosmetics, as in she knows all.

Look at her. She’s my soulmate.

The first video I ever watched was her “All about Makeup Brushes” video. Immediately I was hooked. If you haven’t seen this video yet I recommend watching it.

Jaclyn is who introduced me to Sigma Brushes. I love Sigma’s brushes all the hype and talk about their brushes is well worth it.

Except for that annoying f80. I have tried two of the f80 brushes and all they do is shed on me. It’s beyond annoying and I am not impressed.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Did I just get the two flukes? I don’t know guys.

I love all their brushes, but this f80 is not my friend, and I’ve tried countless times to love it.

The prices of these brushes are so reasonable. Way more reasonable than what I paid for It Cosmetics Brushes.

I switched to It Cosmetics foundation brushes after I got fed up with Sigma’s f80 and I love it.

I hate that $40 price though, but I would rather pay for my $40, non shedding brush, than a $20 brush that sheds like a dog.

Have you guys tried Morphe Brushes? I want to so badly. But I really don’t need to purchase any more brushes. I kinda, maybe, sorta, do have a makeup brush buying problem. I can’t help myself.

Some people collect stamps, others collect coins, I collect makeup brushes.

Brushes make me happy. They’re so pretty and fun.

I do recommend buying Sigma brushes in sets though. The two sets that I have from Sigma are:

The Premium Kit and the Make Me Crazy Essential Kit

premium kit Screen Shot 2015-02-25 at 3.26.03 PM

These two kits are my favorite. I use almost all of these brushes except for that awful paint brush.

I guess I am not talented enough to use a paint brush because I am a pro at leaving streaks on my face when I do try to use this brush.

Anyways I hope you guys enjoyed this post.

Please comment back about the sigma f80 questions because I really want to know if I am the only one with this problem.

I love you guys! Have a happy Wednesday.

The first step is admitting you have a problem.

Okay, I’ll be honest. I’m a makeup junkie.

I love to buy clothes for a bargain, it’s the best feeling, makeup on the other hand is a different story.

I love every last bit of makeup, from drugstore to Dior. (I’ve never tried Dior, but when I’m rich someday I’ll be sure to try it.)

I wanted to show you guys some of my favorite makeup palettes I have tried over the years. I love makeup palettes because you get so many different eyeshadows for a good price… most of the time.

The first one is Urban Decay Naked Palette

In this palette you get 12 different colors: (from left to right) Virgin, Sin, Naked, Sidecar, Buck, Half Baked, Smog, Darkhorse, Toasted, Hustle, Creep, and Gun Metal.

Screen Shot 2015-02-24 at 6.17.15 PM Screen Shot 2015-02-24 at 6.22.19 PM

The next one is the Lorac Pro Palette. In this palette you get 16 eyeshadows.

The colors are: White, Cream, Taupe, Lt. Pink, Nude, Champagne, Gold, Lt Bronze, Mauve, Sable, Espresso, Black, Pewter, Garnet, Deep Purple, and Slate.

This palette is the best thing in the whole entire world. It’s $42.00 but I would bay twice that amount.

These colors are so pigmented and so beautiful. I just about die every time I use this palette. It’s the bomb. You need this in your life.

Screen Shot 2015-02-08 at 2.39.04 PM Screen Shot 2015-02-24 at 6.26.26 PM

Sidenote: The Lorac Pro To Go Palette is pretty too, I just never know what to do with it.

Natural At Night Neutral Eyeshadow Palette by TooFaced is also a beautiful palette. It’s tiny, pretty, and pigmented. So traveling with it is super easy.

The palette has nine colors. The first row has Full moon, Nightcap, and Cocoa Star

The second row has Night Light, After Hours, and Eclipse

The third row has Spotlight, Moon Stone, and Night Fever.

Screen Shot 2015-02-24 at 6.37.26 PM

Out of these three palettes I recommend the Lorac Pro Palette. The pigmentation of this palette is out of this world. I should do a whole review on this palette, because it’s my favorite.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post.

I love you!

Thanks for reading! Have a good rest of your day!

Ready for spring.

Okay, who else is ready for spring? I don’t know where you guys live, but I live in Michigan and its blistering cold out.

I love living here though, I live about a mile from lake Michigan and the view of the lake never gets old. The cold does though.

I’m staying at my great grandmas house for the next two weeks, and she doesn’t have WiFi. I’ll try to blog as much as possible.

Right now I’m sitting in Tim Hortons, drinking my over priced caramel latte (three dollars for something that lasts 15 minutes makes me sad). I felt bad not buying something and using their WiFi though.

Anyways, let’s get to the point of this post. I’m really excited to show you guys this outfit. It’s very fun, and is what made me want spring very badly.

I’ll take spring, but this outfit is also perfect for a cruise, so if any of you guys feel like sending me on a nice Mediterranean cruise, do not hesitate. 😛

It’s a jumpsuit! It’s fun, its bold, it’s nothing I’d normally wear, but I’m head over heals for this outfit.

I got this outfit from Cato Fashions, which is beyond affordable. I got this jumpsuit for $34.99. If you think about it though, that’s extremely affordable, because you’re getting the shirt & pants. It’s so exciting!

Can you tell how much I love this outfit?! I actually think it’s more than love. Whatever that is.

Anyways –

Cato Fashions – Jumpsuit – I do suggest going a size or two bigger than what you normally wear.

ONLY if you have big backside. My butt makes Texas look small, so I went up two sizes, because I didn’t want the jumpsuit fitting every curve, I wanted it to flow and be loose.

My jean jacket is from goodwill, you can get one similar online from Charlotte Russe

Screen Shot 2015-02-06 at 4.23.16 PM

I hope you guys enjoy this! I also hope it inspires you to be bold and have fun with your wardrobe. After all fashion is about having fun and expressing yourself.

I love you! Have a beautiful Thursday!

Talk to you Soon ❤ ❤ ❤

Hi, Loves.

Hi friends,

So in all honesty, I have nothing profound to blog about. I haven’t worn anything super cute, and I haven’t been loving my makeup these past couple of days.

So I decided to list completely random things that I have bought lately.

I hope you enjoy it!

  1. Smashbox Primers – their primers are very creamy, and a little goes a long way
  2. Bath & Body Works Forever Red Body Cream – I love the smell I swear it lasts all day, and they usually have some sort of sale.
  3. Spaghetti Squash – It’s better than pasta, cooks in the same amount of time, and much better for you. If you want to know some recipes let me know.
  4. The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Care Kit – Screen Shot 2015-02-10 at 8.35.57 PM  Stop reading this post, get in your car, drive to Ulta, and go buy this product I got the full sized set for only $25.00. It feels intense on your skin, but I swear it’s extremely gentle. Seriously my favorite product of all time.
  5. Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick – any shade, every shade, they’re beautiful.
  6. Kale.

Thanks for reading! I love you guys!
